Saturday 3 August, 11am - 5pm
Join us on an exclusive visit to the Bristol Old Royal Infirmary. The tour will be led by SPAB Member Bryony Levermore, Technical Director at UC Build, who is leading the project to convert this building into student accommodation.
This large and impressive Georgian building dates from 1784-1810, and despite many later amendments and interventions it still retains clear indications of its origins as one of the first purpose-built hospitals outside London.
The conversion project is the culmination of a ‘long and complicated’ planning history for the site since its closure in 2016.
We’ll begin the day with tea, coffee and a briefing in the site office. We’ll then go up the Georgian stairs to view the corridors. During lunch we’ll enjoy a presentation and discussion, before finishing the tour with a walk around the perimeter and up the scaffold.
Places on the tour are strictly limited due to space restrictions, so be sure to book the tour here.
