Ardverikie Estate Sawmill at the Highland Folk Museum

Ardverikie Estate Sawmill at the Highland Folk Museum

Watermill

The machinery for this sawmill was originally installed by Alexander Cameron at Nethy Bridge in 1863. In 1937, it was relocated in its entirety to Ardverikie Estate, near Laggan, where the BBC series Monarch of the Glen was filmed. Here a 12ft overshot wheel powered the mill, which supplied 'off the saw' timber for use on the estate.
