Event details
Saturday 13 August - 1pm-4pm
A site tour of the work currently being carried out by the Stone Yard on the South Quire of York Minster, guided by SPAB Fellow, Lee Godfrey. The tour will be looking principally at conservation repairs to Window S7, commonly referred to as St Cuthbert’s Window.
NB: This will involve traveling to the 7th floor of the scaffolding on a lift and then climbing a set of 3 ladders on the internal elevation of the building. Alternatively, the area can be reached by a set of scaffold steps.
The tour will take approximately 45 mins – 1 hour and there will be a maximum of three tours for 10 people in the afternoon; specific times will be sent out closer to the time. PPE (hard hats and high vis) will be provided but stout footwear is required.
During the afternoon, there will be refreshments provided in Dean’s Park as an opportunity to reconnect with other SPAB members, or join in a sketching workshop before or after your allocated tour.
The price for this event is £10. Light refreshments will be included such as cold drinks and cake. Please consider making a £5 donation to York Minster when you book to support this wonderful building.
Please note that your event ticket does not include entry in the York Minster, and this can be booked directly through their website (https://yorkminster.org/visit/plan-your-visit/).
