Event details
Saturday 5 August 2023, starting at 1.45pm
Price: £15 (includes tea and £5 donation to the church)
West Horsley is a spread out village with around 40 houses and barns that are from before 1700 and the only tithe barn in Surrey of chalk and flint. The church is a short distance from the village; its west wall has early 13th century wall paintings that have been restored to clarity. There is a unique church house adjacent that has been dendro dated by the Surrey Domestic Buildings Research Group at 1434.
We will tour the church with historian, June Davey. We will then have a walking tour of the village followed by a visit to June’s beautiful hall house, dated at 1386, where tea will be served.
Parking is available in the car park behind the church. (Please note that the village is approximately 1km away from the church, so you may prefer to drive and find somewhere to park in the village.)
Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.
About the Kent and Surrey Regional Group
The group has run continuously since its foundation in 1994. We aim to hold around 10 to 12 events a year catering for a wide range of interest. Events include visits to buildings undergoing conservation and repair projects to allow members to see conservation in action, buildings and landscapes of historical and architectural interest, and visits to some of south east England’s most significant buildings including behind the scenes tours of Cathedrals, Royal Palaces and major military fortifications.
Accessibility: please contact the Group Organiser before booking to discuss any special access requirements.
