Join the Kent & Surrey Group on a visit to Chiddingfold to see this historic Surrey village.

We’ll see the Forge with local architect, Nicola Westbury, the Chiddingfold Archive, St Mary’s Church and modern church hall, and the Crown Inn.

SPAB owns the Grade II listed timber framed forge at the southern end of the Green. The forge has recently been vacated and is to be re-let to a blacksmith, so this is a rare opportunity to view inside the building.

The Archive has records of the rich history of the village. We will also visit St Mary’s Church, which is Grade I listed and dates from circa 1190, with restoration in 1869 and has a wonderful modern church room.

The Crown Inn, Grade II* listed, is a magnificent six-bay Wealden hall house with two bay hall and jettied cross wing. The village has many other interesting historic buildings. If you'd like to explore further after our visit we can provide a map with more information.

How to get there

Chiddingfold is on the A282 between Milford and Petworth. We'll send the meeting location in a confirmation email.
