Event details

Wednesday 21 July 2021

Godinton House is a Jacobean mansion set in 12 acres of spectacular gardens, last landscaped by Reginald Blomfield in 1898.  They include an Italian garden, rose garden, significant herbaceous borders, walled garden, terraced lawns and vast formal yew hedging.   The house and garden are set in a traditional parkland with ancient oaks and chestnuts, and the Trust’s wider estate. The house was formerly the home of the Toke Family for about 455 years and then latterly of Major Alan Wyndham-Green who established a Preservation Trust for the house and garden in 1991.

The visit will explore the house and garden in three groups of eight. Paul Mallion of Conker Conservation, who are carrying out repairs to the House, will be our guide and we shall be met by the estate manager, Rob Duggan.

The cost of the visit is £12. Tea and cake will be provided (£5) or cream tea (£5.75).

Meet in the car park at the House at 1.00pm for 1.30pm start

Multiple bookings
As long as there is space on the event, we usually allow you to book for both yourself and a guest. When completing the booking form, you will be asked to select the number of people and put in your own details on the first page, then to put in your second person's details on the next page. The event fee shown on each of these pages is for the individual person - you will be shown the total amount due once you get to the summary page.

About the Kent and Surrey Regional Group
The group has run continuously since its foundation in 1994. We aim to hold around 10 to 12 events a year catering for a wide range of interest. Events include visits to buildings undergoing conservation and repair projects to allow members to see conservation in action, buildings and landscapes of historical and architectural interest, and visits to some of south east England’s most significant buildings including behind the scenes tours of Cathedrals, Royal Palaces and major military fortifications.
